From Sharon Mae:
So THAT'S what my senior picture looked like! My yearbook pic has been obliterated by a "Best wishes for the future" note across it....in my own handwriting! (I told my mom I thought I was signing someone else's book but, truth be told, I was covering up what I then thought to be an awful photo....typical angst of a teenage girl.) Today, angst-free but not wrinkle-free, I'd love to have that pic and weight on my current driver's license.

After PHS and a year at PJC, I married my senior prom date, Ed Huston, a naval cadet. We've had a great life together (soon to be 50 years) and, with Uncle Sam as our travel agent, we were on the move a lot....just like so many other of the bios I've been reading.

The Corpus Christi area is Ed's home so, after serving as commanding officer of a VT squadron at CC NAS, he farewelled the Navy (after 23 years) to begin an aviation management business here. We then had a  20-year 'detour' to the Dallas area when the challenges and perks of directing a corporate aviation department were offered to him. In 2007, twice retired, we resettled in Corpus.
My 'career' has primarily been that of a wife, mom, and volunteer. I did, however, work in Ed's business for awhile and also was an administrative assistant (glorified secretary) for The Humane Society of the U.S. for several years.

In 1987, I founded The Lost Pet Hotline here in Corpus which is still going today even though I had to turn the reins over to others when we moved to Dallas. For the past 40 years I've been involved with animal rescue work in one way or another. My heart and efforts go out to strays on the street and I wonder how anyone can just drive by, ignoring their plight.

My proudest accomplishment is rearing two children (now in the mid-forties) who are busy, productive adults with very compassionate hearts. Our son, his wife, and our only grandchild (Andrew, 13) live locally (Yay!). Our daughter and her husband live in Sacramento (Alas!). It is due to a planned trip to California to see her later this year that we won't be tripping to the reunion.

I'm in awe of the efforts and accomplishments of the reunion committee, as well as those who have generously $ub$idized the website and other aspects of aiding attendees. Kudos to all! I didn't know Don Coleman well at PHS, but I sure look forward to experiencing his delicious sense of humor now via PHS e-mails. Thanks also to high school buddies Carolyn (Barrett) Couch and Olivia (Bagley) Swaine for offering us bunk space were we to attend. To everyone, have bunches of fun!

From Janet:
After graduating from Pensacola High, I went on to get a degree at the University of North Florida. I worked as a social worker for 10 years at Children's Crisis Center in Jacksonville - then changed careers and have worked as Director of Development for numerous Jacksonville non-profits and the University of North Florida. I am currently working for the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center. My husband, Robert, is employed at CSX in their Aviation Department. We have three children, my daughter Kim and son Brad, and Robert's Daughter Katie who is still in college!! -- working on her Master's Degree at George Washington University in Washington, DC. I love the out of doors - have run five marathons, including New York, play tennis on a tennis team and enjoy kayaking and hiking. My parents and younger brother and sister still live in Pensacola, so I visit a couple of times a year. Pensacola is a beautiful city and I have wonderful memories of growing up there. It's amazing that after so many years, that the Class of '59 is going to get back together. Thanks to the guys who have initiated this effort and are doing such a great job contacting everyone and developing this great web-site.

From Shiela:

Thank you PHS 1959 Reunion Organizers! I'm amazed that I'll be joining classmates of long ago in celebrating our 50th high school reunion.  Somewhere inside me is still a tanned, barefoot girl on Pensacola Beach

Since those days, I spent 30 years in the Washington, DC area where I worked, graduated from two universities, and met my husband, George.  We raised three wonderful sons in the Virginia suburbs, two of whom now live and work in NYC and one in London

My checkered career path has been interesting, but not one that put me in a position to lose any investments to Madoff!  I worked for the Federal Government and private high-tech corporations, but mostly I worked under the education umbrella for community service organizations.  When George retired from Federal Service in 1999 we moved to Bloomington, Illinois near his family farm roots.

For the first six years of our relocated life, with his help, I researched, wrote and self-published a book about my father's WWII story.  Lew Bishop was a pilot with Chennault's American Volunteer Group Flying Tigers.  You can find a copy of Escape from Hell, an AVG Flying Tiger's Journey in the National Naval Aviation Museum Library at Pensacola NAS. I hand sold nearly the entire 1,078 print run. These days I enjoy writing children's stories and helping Illinois State University library. I'm looking forward to seeing folks and hope we recognize each other!
