From Joel:
After PHS, I left for Atlanta to attend Georgia Tech to major in Architecture; however, it wasn’t too long before I changed majors and spent four years studying Industrial Management instead. I have lived in Metro Atlanta ever since, except for six months on active duty with the Army Reserve.
I met my wife, Anne Weber (Horne), while on a visit home in 1966. Anne was teaching school in Pensacola at the time. She grew up in Pensacola as I did, and graduated high school in 1959 as we all did, but from Pensacola Catholic High. She graduated from FSU in 1963 where she was a member of AOII sorority. We married in 1967 in Pensacola, and settled in north Metro Atlanta.
I worked in accounting, and Anne taught school in Marietta. After several years I decided to work towards a CPA designation. I enrolled in Georgia State Univ. and received an accounting degree a year later; went to work for a CPA firm; passed the CPA exam; and received my CPA credentials. I have practiced as a CPA ever since, cutting back to part time several years ago and working from home.
While our two children were growing up, most of our non-working time revolved around their activities – dance, gymnastics, cheerleading, swimming, and soccer. Our daughter is now 31 and lives in Tampa finishing up a degree in Commercial Interior Design. Our son who is 28, graduated from Univ. of Georgia in Finance, and works for SunTrust Bank in Atlanta. He is married; no grandchildren as yet.
We visited Pensacola often as long as our parents were alive, but now only occasionally get down.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. We have attended two past PHS reunions, and they have been lots of fun. Know this one will be!
