City: Benbrook State/Prov.: TX Occupation: Human Resources Mgr Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 3 From Sue: I did not graduate with the 1959 class -- attended PHS my junior year, transferring from Gainesville High School. I moved the summer of '58 to Meridian, MS and graduated from Meridian High School. However, it was very nice of Johnny Wakefield to include me as a member of the PHS graduating class. I am not sure many people will remember me but I am looking forward to attending the reunion. Classmate, David Bowman, and I kept in touch after graduation. He visited me several times while I was attending the University of Florida and he was at Florida State. We married in 1961; I worked full time at the FSU Oceanographic Institute until David graduated in 1963. We had our first son while at Florida State. Second son was born in Kingsport, TN, 4 months after David's graduation and son #3 born in Knoxville, TN. I was a stay-at-home mom, working temp jobs here and there, until my children started to school. Then I worked as a Legal Secretary for several years. Graduated from Texas Christian University (TCU) with degree in Business & Marketing after several years of night school. We've had a great life but also some devastating disappointments. Our middle son, Steve, passed away in 2003 and our youngest, Chris, lost all his vision due to complications from a bone marrow transplant in 1986. Despite his disability, he graduated from college with a GPA of 3.9. Classmate, Bill Pinney, was one of his professors at the University of Texas at Arlington and spent extra personal time helping him fulfill his math requirements. He is truly a dedicated teacher and we will always appreciate his efforts on behalf of Chris. David and I are retired -- but we sure do stay busy! I work from home (part-time) as an independent human resources contractor. David has to keep 3 properties going - rent house, main house and weekend lake place. We really enjoy our 2 young grandsons, Taylor and Daniel. They live in Arlington, TX which is about 30 miles from us. Taylor is an outstanding ice hockey player. They keep us laughing! It's hard to believe that it's been 5 decades since graduation -- even though we are senior citizens now, I am sure everyone will agree that those high school years were a truly special time in our lives and those memories remain clear and strong even after 50 years. I know we're going to have a great time at the reunion. See you there! |
